Seven-year-old Savanna Brink is a sweetheart. The adorable redhead sprung into action after seeing something on television last month that got her thinking.
"We saw a commercial with kids and cancer," said Savanna's mother Amber Whitley. "She asked me, ‘Why doesn't this little girl have hair?' l told her, ‘The treatments they undergo, sometimes they lose their hair.'"
That evening, Savanna - who loved her long locks of hair - asked her mother to cut them.
"Because they had no hair, they were really sick. I decided to donate my hair," Savanna said.
Amber cut off approximately 13 inches of hair. She called a number of places in the valley until she found the right one. Lifelike Hair Center agreed to create a wig, free of charge.
Owner Steve Heaton, a cancer patient himself, says he was touched by Savanna's gesture.
"Hair makes a lot of difference, especially in children," he said. "When they don't have the hair, it emphasizes their condition, and they feel really self conscious about it. I want to help out. I really do."
He says he will send the hair to his manufacturer to create the perfect wig, contact various cancer centers in the valley to find a child with cancer and allow Savanna to present the wig to that child.
"It's really good to know I raised a good little person, a little person with a good heart," Amber said.
